Cook County Bluegrass was formed after the inevitable meeting, at a bluegrass jam in 1998, of singer/guitarist/songwriter Tony Cook, and, now close comrade; singer/mandolinist/songwriter Will Perkinson. They knew straight away that they were onto something good.

Their first recording “Blue Sky Town”, released in 2000 is a juxtaposition of first rate originals with classics. After several years of paying their dues, honing their skills and several personnel changes, singer/upright bass/songwriter Brian “Flyin” Sulser joined the group in 2007. An infamous and ubiquitous member of the burgeoning Richmond music scene specializing in swing jazz, rock n roll, bossa nova and beyond. This is when the group solidified it’s line-up as a power trio.

These guys can pick, hold court, and their three part harmonies make them an exceptionally great listen. They’re currently working on a new CD that will feature several new originals and some evergreens, too!

For almost two decades Cook County Bluegrass has been providing good times and bluegrass music to the Richmond area and beyond and they show no signs of stopping now.

This is not your grandfather’s bluegrass, but, have us out to the homestead for your next occasion and invite all the kinfolk. We’ll provide a foot stomping good time, and, we’ll win over your Pappy, too!
